Modular magnifier system with interchangeable lenses and handles

The Okolux Plus is a top quality, illuminated LED magnifying glass which can be used hand-held or hands-free. Its clever modular design means you can attach different lenses onto the handle, giving you a choice of magnifications either for different tasks, or as your eyesight changes over time.

If you are new to the Okolux system, then of course your introduction will be a complete magnifier - i.e lens plus handle - such as the 5x model shown here. This is a mid-strength lens in the range.

Sits on flat surface, like a magnifying stand

The lightweight, round aspheric lens measures 55mm (just over 2 inches) in size. Magnification power: 5x / 20 dioptre. It sits inside a white-coloured housing so the maximum amount of light is concentrated and reflected back onto your subject. This has a flat base, enabling you to rest it on a page hands free as if it were a stand magnifier. This makes it especially helpful to people who cannot always hold the magnifier at the right distance, such as people with frail or shaky hands and age-related Parkinsons Disease.

The Okolux is also a fine choice for anyone who need the assurance of a flat surface stand magnifier with a fixed position lens that is always in focus. Note that you will need to have the magnifier directly below your eye, when it used on a table or desktop. Some users will find they need to have their eye close to the lens in order to view what's being magnified underneath.

Can also be used as a normal handheld magnifying glass

Alternatively, you can use the Okolux as a conventional handheld magnifier too. The handle also holds xxx batteries, with a central thumb switch to operate the light. The light source is a low energy LED, pre-set to a natural daylight colour temperature of 6500K. Ideal for use in low light conditions, you will find that this highlights text, and increases contrast to a maximum, making words in books, magazines and newspapers stand out more. This temperature is easy on the eye, aiding concentration and reducing fatigue.

A magnifier system for life

It is not a budget magnifier but the optics are first class, with accurate edge-to-edge magnification. Over time we would say that it does offer very good value. With the ability to replace just the handle or lens, you save yourself the cost of having to buy an entire new magnifier.
